Baking is essential to me. It is essential to my spirit...it’s my way to bring a little light and love to the world. I grew up in a really, really small town in rural West Alabama, in the heart of the South. I started baking and cooking with my grandmother, Big Momma, when I was about 7 years old. I made full meals, while we watched the daytime stories. The first thing she made exclusively for me (just for me) was a Kool Aid Cake and my love for baking was born. The idea of taking the most simple ingredients and putting them together to come up with such a complex treat was mind blowing to me as a child. She spent a great deal of time pouring exclusively into me. The idea of teaching someone something or making something “just for them” is what I think lead me to this cupcake journey. I bake and make traditional cupcakes and treats for individual consumption...the idea of just for me is one of my areas of focus. I hope to expand that feeling to as many people as possible. My hope is that each person that has one of my treats feels as if it was made just for them...that they don’t have to share, unless they want to.
